Personal Privacy: Taking New Steps; Is This A Bold Move Or I Am Just Making A Terrible Mistake?

April 29, 2018

As a fully grown woman with lots of responsibilities and with little time for myself, the passion for writing has not even died down one bit. Two years ago, I decided to venture a little into video making…

Personal privacy is very important to me.

Being a person who absolutely loves to read and to write a lot, I spent most of my childhood free time reading books, and writing in my diaries. I have always found it very therapeutic and relaxing to write down the events that occurred during the day time, my thoughts and my views on a particular subject matter. I would save the completed diaries and go back to read then every once in a while. Oh boy, they were quite entertaining. It is amazing how each entry sheds light to a new, unique, or different aspect of me. Okay, let’s fast forward to today and what I want to share with you guys about personal privacy.

As a fully grown woman with lots of responsibilities and with little time for myself, the passion for writing has not even died down one bit. I still get very excited when I get a tiny bit of opportunity to read or write a little. Two years ago, I decided to venture a little into video making. So i started a YouTube Channel as many of you already know :). Well if you don’t, then Here is the LINK so you can check it out.

So coming to today’s topic; How has my personal privacy been affected and What exactly Are the things I am letting go of? You see, when I started this blog and my YouTube Channel, I was so afraid of showing or telling too much about me. I was afraid of what people would think or how they would rate my personal opinions or decisions. I was scared of being called names, and rightly so, because I got a lot of name calling. In this video, I read out some of the funny, crazy and unbelievable comments I got.

Responding To Comments on my Finland Videos: You Won’t Believe How Crazy Some Comments Are.

You see, when I started Blogging at first I was super secretive. I made sure I maintained my personal privacy. I wasn’t ready to take all the side nastiness that comes with making my life public or putting myself out there too much. I went with all kind of aliases as names for my Facebook Pages and YouTube Channel. I didn’t have instagram or twitter. I didn’t want that kind of exposure.

So what changed? Some couple of weeks ago, I got sick. I was at home for a while and I used that time to do a lot of reflection. All these months of being a Blogger and vlogger I have been in hiding. I thought I was maintaining my personal privacy but the truth was that I was hiding.

Hiding from who I am, what I want to do, and my desire to build a personal brand. No wonder it has always seemed like a part of me was missing. So I decided to change all that. First of all, if I want to build a personal brand then I have to learn to relate with my followers on a personal basis without compromising my personal space or personal privacy.

I have received lots of positive comments and messages from people who love what I do and enjoy watching my videos and reading my blog posts. All this time, I have focused on running and hiding from the trolls, racists and internet bullies instead of building openness, trust, and friendship with my readers and subscribers. So I updated all my Social media details and started using my real names. Below is a video where I also talked about this.

You can also follow me on Instagram so you get to see pictures and Story highlights of me and my family. Most of you have not seen my daughter. Well you can see her now on Instagram. :D. She is a delight to our hearts. Here is a post I shared some more personal stuff about this and I am sure you would enjoy reading it. Why Do I Feel This Way? Am I Being Untrue To My Heart?

Now, Am I making a mistake? Some may say yes, some may say No. For me, the policy is simple and it is this; follow your heart. Flow with it at every stage, and if your heart says it is time to stop, then stop. The main time is that you listen to your heart.

Love,

Olivia.
