New Year Resolutions 2020: What happens When The New Year Is Approaching, The Good And The Bad.

December 31, 2018

I have observed the growing tension people have when a New year is approaching. At first I mistook it for excitement for the New year. Found out it was something different

After Christmas comes New Year and New Year resolutions. But first let’s take a moment to focus on Christmas. Seems everyone loves Christmas. But what’s there not to love? A time to share and receive, a time to laugh and love, a time to eat and drink…. Okay let me not go poetic on you guys. Seriously everyone loves Christmas. I love a snow-filled Christmas. But what happens after that? How about New year? Does it bring same feelings on board? For many maybe, for a lot more, no. I have observed the growing tension people have when a New year is approaching.  At first I mistook it for excitement for the New year. Found out it was something different.

Pressure.

New Year Resolutions can be a recipe for pressure, if one is not careful. Yes, pressure from oneself towards oneself. Pressure to outdo yourself this New year and your achievements of the previous year. Pressure that “oh another year has gone by and I’m still here, or I’m still not in a relationship, or I still don’t have a job, etc. Pressure that you haven’t really done on the things you said you would do when you made New year Resolutions last January. I have fallen victim to this too many times, until I changed my mindset about New years, and making New year resolutions.

Instead of spending the last day of the year making New Year resolutions for the coming year and mounting pressure on yourself, how about trying something different this New year? Take a look at your yesterday. Focus on YOUR SUCCESSES, and Count your blessings. Don’t get me wrong, it is a good thing to make New Year resolutions and set them as GOALS.

The key is NOT to obsess over them, mount unnecessary pressure on yourself and end up not achieving any of your New Year resolutions. This can only lead to unnecessary stress. Rather focus on maximizing your potentials to the best of your abilities in this New year. You should check this post on Maximizing Your Potentials: Find And Use Your Special Ability To Your Advantage. I am very sure you will find it interesting to read. Okay back to New year resolutions. It’s all about MINDSET. See how far you have come and enter the New year with a grateful heart and a positive energy. An energy not to beat yourself up, but to push yourself forward into the New year and the new things it has in store for you. Take it one day at a time. But most importantly, enjoy your journey!

Below are some recent videos I made on my YouTube Channel about Christmas in Finland and how it is celebrated. Cultures are different and it is very intriguing and beautiful to witness a different Christmas celebration from what you are used to. I also visited the magical town of Santa Claus. You do know he is from Finland right? :D. Lol. On a serious note though, check them out below.
