Year 2020; Making Decisions For Yourself: That scary life changing moment when you decide to go the ‘unpopular’ way for self love

January 22, 2019

This year’s cold weather has left me hugging my blanket and a cup of tea while fighting the flu. Hey, but this isn’t why I came online today. Nah, far from it. I came to tell you a story…

Making decisions for yourself.

Hmmm. Sounds like what we all know already. Seriously I can’t count how many times I have read, seen, or heard stories all boiling down to making decisions for yourself.

So right now, writing anything about making decisions for yourself sound so cliche, but the real question is; do we actually do so?

First let me ask you guys; how has the New Year been for you all? Well for me, it isn’t going exactly as I had expected. I expected it to be normal like every other year, but honestly this year, the weather has been so cold that I have been kinda unwilling to go out. But I guess we gotta get off our butts (pardon my language) and just do what we have to do. Recently I posted a video on YouTube on HOW TO SURVIVE WINTER IN FINLAND: Tips To Survive Finnish Winter. What To Wear, What To Do in Winter.

This year’s cold weather has left me hugging my blanket and a cup of tea while fighting the flu. But so far so well. I am a survivor. So yeah, hope you have been doing amazing this year? Carry on! And if not, keep fighting! We will get there soon. :D. Hey, but this isn’t why I came online today. Nah, far from it. I came to tell you a story:

Yes, a true story about making decisions for yourself.

So once upon a time, there was a lady who seemed to have everything in order, knows it all, has all the answers and even decides life issues for the rest of the family. Everyone seemed to quote her and whatever she says is “the law”. Everything was going so well until one day another lady came into the house to live with them.

You see, the funny thing was that the second lady was as strong minded as the first lady. At first she went along and allowed the first lady to control her and make decisions even for her own family. But one day, she just couldn’t cope anymore and she decided not to follow the first lady’s decision anymore. So she started making decisions for herself. But then she realized that this only made the first lady to dislike her, and call her “stubborn”.

And hey, if the first lady has a “negative” opinion about someone, the rest kinda buys into it. So it bothered the second lady because she didn’t want the others to dislike her. But she realized that living a life controlled by another person would only make her a shadow of her own self.

So one day she said to herself; It is time to start making decisions for yourself. In her own words; ‘I owe it to myself to be “stubborn” for my own life. I am who I am, and I deserve to live a happy life, and make decisions for myself.’ So she continued being in charge of her life. Eventually, the first lady realized that looking at the second lady is like looking at herself in the mirror, and disliking the second lady would mean disliking her own self. From that day forward, she started thinking twice before dishing out decisions for other people and expecting them to follow.

The first lady said:  “It is your right to be making decisions for yourself. If I wouldn’t let anyone make decisions for my life and control me, why should I make decisions for others or control them?”.

That’s the story guys. Moral lesson? – You are responsible for making decisions for yourself. Be fierce, be stubborn for you, take charge of your own life. And if someone else has it currently, take it back!

Also, when it comes to making decisions for yourself, I do have a blog post that would interest you: Why Do I Feel This Way? Am I Being Untrue To My Heart?
