Health And Wellness: A Memorable Spa Day for Immigrant Women in Rovaniemi by Arktiset Maahanmuuttajat

June 14, 2018

The idea is to create an opportunity for women of all ages to participate in Wellness, Beauty, Health and Fitness activities together in a fun and relaxing way…

Health and Wellness.

As I always say: ‘Women are the pillars that keep the home standing’. Okay, relax men, you guys also do amazing jobs of keeping the home as well. Now, irrespective of the gender, It certainly gets exhausting sometimes and we always find ourselves immersed with a ton of home matters that we barely ever find time to take a day off for ourselves. I have a Blog post where I talked about this too in more details. You can click to read it here: How To Reduce Stress; Dealing with Challenges In Your Daily Life .

It is in this line of thinking that the Arctic Immigrants Association (Arktiset Maahanmuuttajat) situated in Rovaniemi came up with the project themed; “Naiset Liikkumaan – Active Ladies”.  The idea is to create an opportunity for women of all ages to participate in Health and Wellness, Beauty, Health and Fitness activities together in a fun and relaxing way.

I am quite privileged to be actively involved in these health and wellness activities. With school, family and blogging all on my plate, it is difficult sometimes to find time to take care of myself, just for a moment.

This project has been in motion and we have successfully conducted some events for example, Santa Sport’s Health and Exercise courses plus some outdoor activities, Lady Line’s Fitness courses, and then some Swimming at the Vesihissi swimming Hall in Rovaniemi. There was also a brunch get-together featuring Fitness tips and Healthy Breakfast Ideas by one of our coordinators. All the Ladies got a free T-shirt. How awesome is that!

Then we had Summer exercise (Jumppa) organised by me, which took place in front of the Main Library, and the Palestinian Cultural dance organised by Every Day Idea. This was closely followed by a Beauty Care Day organised by me in collaboration with the manager of Kauneus- ja Terveysklinikka Lisa. It was published in a Newspaper. You can read all about it here.

The Day began with well decorated and refreshing Smoothie drinks for all the ladies, some tasty Dates and delicious tomato-cheese-basilica combo. The ladies had the option of choosing Nail Treatment and Polishing, Around the Eyes Care, or Indian Head and Shoulder Massage. It was such a lovely health and wellness day! Now feeling refreshed, we look forward to more activities to come.

So yes, as busy humans, we all get immersed in our daily activities and family life. But in the midst of it all, we have to remember health and wellness and so make out time for ourselves.

I call it my ‘Me time’, and if you ask me, I would say that ‘Me time’ should be a daily ritual of looking out for oneself, no matter how short time it may be. A well utilized 15 minutes alone time to refresh your mind and body is worth more than many rubies.

Stay Refreshed!

Love,

Olivia.

PS: Below is a post I made sometime on Health and Wellness and the topic was about Food. Yeah I like food. :D. Go check it out below.
