It’s Time To Start Believing Again – A Poem based On a True Story
Many a time they have preached about a Supreme One,
proclaiming the joys of believing in Him.
Many a people call him the Almighty Lord,
exhorting the need in asking, for He gives.
The ever-present hope for all who ache with pain,
the ever-ready water for all who thirst for rain.
With Him is the balm for all our sickening sorrows,
In Him is the hope for all our tomorrows.
I sat in awe, eating up those words,
like a barren soil thirsty for the rain.
I gasp in joy, tearing up those walls,
like a prisoner regaining control of his reins.
Throwing caution to the winds, I believed,
craving for love.
Getting awed by those words, I reached,
yearning for more.
In listening I was brought to Him,
In kneeling I was bought by Him.
In accepting I was born anew in Him,
So I believed some more.
Following in joy,
hoping in faith.
Praying in expectation,
dreaming for tomorrow.
I became unknown to myself,
changing as everything changes.
The old me was gone,
The new me is born.
Then many years visited my home,
ghosts appear from within their bosoms.
Each ghost tearing up my flesh from within,
each year taking out a chunk from without.
I called but no one heard,
I cried but no one helped.
I searched the Word but it was empty.
I longed for my health but it was gone.
With nothing else to turn to,
I gave my last hope away.
With nowhere else to run to,
I sighed as the beast awakes.
Hoping for nothing,
I trusted in no one.
Believing only in the death beneath,
I yearned only for the life beyond.
The past— unwanted as the plague,
the future— undesired and opaque.
Then for the very first time I heard Him,
His voice whispered my name.
His touch closing my wounds,
His words opened my world.
I held on to His Hand in mine,
and gazed into Face as sweet as wine.
Then He said to me:
It’s Time To Start Believing Again.
Hello there, thanks for reading. I composed this poem based on the story of a man who had lost faith when the world took away all he had and left him close to death. I hope this inspires and encourages someone who is on the verge of giving up. God is saying to you right now: “It may seem that I am far away when life hits you with challenges from all angles. But that’s because you are too focused on your problems to notice Me right beside you, reaching out to you, loving you as always.
If only you could take your eyes off those problems and take a moment to fix your gaze on me, Yes Child, fix your gaze on Me, surrender it all to Me, for I have already Overcome the world, and it is only in Me and with Me that you can overcome the world”.
God bless you.
Love,
Olivia. ❤️
